German Shorthaired Pointer in the field

We started showing, training, and breeding Giant Schnauzers in 1983, and absolutely love the breed, but I discovered I liked hunting with a well-bred, well-trained dog.  I had hunted 20 years prior, but without a dog.  Once I went with a friend that had a nice dog, I was hooked.  So we set out to find a breeder, and breed that had a lot of the same personality traits as the Giants.  What we found is that a well-bred German Shorthaired Pointer was exactly what we were looking for.  Very trainable, and personable to say the least, another breed with a personality, and not a temperament.  Although we will always have Giants, we feel the German Shorthaired Pointer has been an important addition to our family.

So in 2000 we started showing and training German Shorthaired Pointers, and are very proud of our accomplishments in the show ring, and the field.  In our first year with our first German Shorthaired Pointer River Valley's Hatten's Payton. We attained his International show Championship, NAVHDA NA II, Junior hunter, attaining his national, and international championships.  We feel very lucky to have found the breeder, and bloodline we have, it produces a dog that will do anything to please you, in the house as well as in the field. Since all of our dogs live in the house, a dog that can be taught manners easily is very important.  The single most important thing to us is the temperament that we are producing, and expect in each and every one of our puppies.

We feel socializing begins at birth, and is the single most important thing a puppy can have.  We are there when the puppies are born, then we help mom by bottle-feeding.  You would be amazed at how the puppies bond to people when bottle-fed.  Since they can have several puppies in a litter, we feel mom deserves some help as well.  We have two boys that are grown now, but we have grandchildren, as well as several nieces, and nephews that visit often, and help socialize the puppies.  We also take the dogs to the grade school, and to an assisted living home, where they encounter a lot of different situations, such as a roomful of wheelchairs.  Everyone loves the time they have together, almost especially the dogs and the puppies.  This is very important to their growth to becoming good dog citizens.

They will be more than a dog, or a pet……. they will be a member of your FAMILY.

We are out to EARN good reputation
